To find out a little more about her work, we asked Sally the following questions…
What inspires your work?
Mountains and the ocean, history, my friends and family, and of course, the city of Angels.
Tell us a bit about your process…
My usual process goes like this: research, research, research, research, write something down, research, get sidetracked by the research, take down some more notes, do some sketches, abandon sketches, cross out some notes, start drawing/painting.
Lately, I’ve been trying for more emotional and personal artwork as opposed to my research based ones. My process is as follows: start drawing, don’t like drawing, puts drawing away for a day or two, look at drawing again and think either “Hmmm, not bad” or “Time to cover everything with paint.”
