Job description

We have an exciting opportunity available for an entry-level position as a Sales Ops Assistant at Flying Eye Books. No prior publishing experience is required; however, the successful applicant will need to be detail focused, highly organised, and able to keep on top of deadlines. We are looking for someone with the ability to multi-task and prioritise their workload, who can problem solve and who has excellent organisation and time-management skills.

Flying Eye Books is an award-winning children’s publisher based in East London. Established in early 2013, we publish picture books, graphic novels and comics, and highly illustrated non-fiction. Our list focuses on attention to detail in design and excellence in illustrated content, with a focus on the craft of children’s storytelling and non-fiction.

This role will report to the Head of Sales, and your primary objective will be to keep all sales and bibliographic systems up to date, ensuring our sales teams around the world, and therefore our books, have the best platform to work from. You will be working closely with the marketing, publicity and sales teams, but you will also have regular communication with design and editorial.

Your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Making sure all sales teams have full and correct metadata and schedules
  • Making sure all sales materials are up to date and correctly logged
  • Working closely with our sales teams in the UK, US and ANZ
  • Supporting the teams by creating presentations, circulating updates and answering queries
  • Working closely with the Editorial and Design teams
  • Be able to analyse systems and suggest best practice

Skills required include:

  • Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, keep track of tasks and follow up on anything outstanding.
  • Self-motivating, able to spot tasks that need to be done and action them.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a good eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team as required, with great interpersonal skills.

This role is based in our East London office with a hybrid working model of three days in office/two days home working. From time to time, you may be required to attend events on evenings and weekends.

Application:

Please submit your CV and cover letter to the Head of Sales, Kate Manning, at [email protected].

Closing Date: 7th March 2025

Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unable to respond to everyone. If you have not heard from us within 2 weeks of the closing date, then unfortunately you have not been shortlisted for the position.
