Originally published in France, In Pieces by Marion Fayolle, beautifully captures the complex bonds in human nature. Each story delineates from another resembling an episodic montage whose silent narrative leaves a lasting impression on its reader.
A man comes home to his lover, his hands are tainted by the dress of another woman. A few pages later, a couple fight for the custody of their daughter to the point where she’s literally cut in two. In Pieces is a beautiful book of visual poetry, in which all common metaphors are explained through images.
Marion Fayolle (born in 1988) graduated in 2011 with a degree in illustration from l’Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, France. She’s one of the co-founders of the acclaimed French illustration magazine “Nyctalope”. “In Pieces” is her first book. She lives in Paris, France.
