A new series of The Great British Bake Off begins tonight. We got into the spirit early, by organising our very own baking competition with bakes inspired by our favourite Flying Eye Books! As you can see, we take cake design (almost) as seriously as book design.
Our six contenders:
1. Chocolate cake with chocolate and vanilla buttercream inspired by the Tama Tama forest in Juniper Mae
2. Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Cookies, inspired by Chiri’s sweet tooth in Rune: The Tale of a Thousand Faces
3. Hilda’s Favourite Choc Chip Cookies, inspired by Hilda and the Black Hound
4. A Blueberry and Red Berry Pie (complete with gold crown and pastry worm!) inspired by Imelda and the Goblin King
5. Fiery Gingerbread Cupcakes, inspired by The Boy on Fire
6. Canele with Homemade Choc-dipped Honeycomb, inspired by STEMville: The Bee Connection
(They were all delicious. Even the worm!)
