The 3rd East London Comic and Arts Festival will take place on Saturday 14 June 2014 at The Oval Space in Hackney, London. The festival will again aim to showcase the plethora of youthful talent in the comics and graphic art scene in London and the UK and to host exciting new collectives and publishers from Europe and the wider world alongside a packed day of workshops and talks.
We are looking for a total of up to 20 enthusiastic people to play a key role in helping us make this festival the best experience possible, supporting us in the delivery of the events programme, assisting visitors and getting involved in the
preparations for the big day.
HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
In the lead up to the event
In the run up for the festival we will need support with distributing flyers and hanging posters, making hand crafted signage and badges. Specifically in the week commencing 26 May and the 7 June, we will need help with distributing posters and flyers. Between the 11- 13 June you would be helping on site installing banners, posters, assisting with material transport and helping exhibitors set up.
We would prefer if you could volunteer per day (or half day), but please let us know your availability during the date ranges below:
26 – 30 May
7 June
11 – 13 June
On the day of the festival
We need people to support our Workshop and Talks Programme helping set up each one, and assisting the Workshop leaders. You will play a vital part in on-the-day preparation and delivery, helping ELCAF staff, directing participants to their positions, helping out with crowd control, ticket sales and general assistance.
At the end of the day you will help dismantling main signage structures of the festival, posters and working with the creative team will help store all the workshops equipment in the storage space.
Volunteers for this role are needed in two shifts from 8.30 am until 5:30pm and from 2pm – 9pm on 14 June, so please state your preference when writing to us.
About you
We are looking for friendly and approachable volunteers who are willing to roll their sleeves up and get stuck into all kinds of activities. You will be happy dealing with the public and have a passion for illustration and comics. Ideally you have some experience in workshop support or have worked in events.
Briefing
You will receive a briefing prior to the event so you have all the information you need to be able to carry out your role. Date and time will be confirmed closer to the event.
Expenses
We offer one special ELCAF 2014 T-shirt per volunteer and a voucher of £10 for you to spend at Nobrow. On the day of the festival we will offer lunch and light refreshments. More information will be provided on sign up.

Register your interest by e-mailing applications@elcaf.co.uk indicating name, contact, availability (please state days and hours), experience, T-shirt size and what activity in festival you would like to get involved with.
